Mark Stobbart’s body was found floating in canal on Good Friday

Ageas broker account executive Mark Stobbart died last week, the insurer has confirmed.

Stobbart’s body was found floating 100m from the start line of a canoe event on the Kennett and Avon canal in Devizes, Wiltshire, at 6.45am on Good Friday.

He was last seen at around 1.30am that day leaving a pub near the canal.

Stobbart had worked for Ageas for 11 years and was a personal lines account executive, covering central England.

In a statement Ageas said: “It is with regret that we can confirm a much valued employee of Ageas, Mark Stobbart, died suddenly late last week. 

“Mark was a long-serving, hard-working and well liked member of the Ageas team, who was respected by both colleagues and clients. We are deeply saddened by his loss and our thoughts and sympathies go to his wife, family and friends.”

Police have appealed for witnesses.
