Broker Alexander Forbes and financial trading house Mako were behind an international charity event that raised £144,000 to help deprived children.

Dealing for Donations day, organised by Mako and Children In Crisis, was held last month to mark the charity's 10th anniversary.

City institutions gave a cut of revenues and fees.

Children In Crisis tackles the suffering to kids caused by conflict, deprivation and poverty around the world. It works with local communities to improve healthcare, education and protection.

A spokeswoman said Mako, Alexander Forbes and more than 20 other companies had been very generous. "It's an excellent result and we're hoping to do it again next year," she said.
