Allianz Cornhill is another insurer to report falling profits in the third quarter due to the four hurricanes which hit the US and parts of the Caribbean.

Net income fell to 539m euros from 586m euros a year earlier, Munich-based Allianz said today.

Despite the profit fall, the reported 539m euros was higher than the 415m euros expected by market analysts.

Stock prices fell almost 9% after the hurricanes hit the US, it has since risen 15%.
