SRA grants insurer an ABS licence

Allianz UK has launched a legal division, ALP Law, in partnership with law firm Serious Law.

The insurer has received an alternative business structure (ABS) licence from the Solicitors Regulation Authority to create the new unit.

ALP Law will provide legal advice and support to Allianz direct private motor policyholders, if they suffer a personal injury following an accident where they were not at fault.

Allianz said in chose Serious Law, which specialises in catastrophic personal injury claims because of its “excellent excellent reputation for providing customers with outstanding service, combined with its proven experience and technical expertise.”

Allianz UK head of legal protection claims James Barclay said: “The new structure introduced through ALP Law will not add layers of costs to the legal claims process but will ensure that Allianz customers with a genuine need for legal support receive the highest possible level of service.”

He added: “Customers will be provided with timely, expert support from lawyers at what can be a worrying and stressful time. They can also be confident in the knowledge that there are no hidden costs, so they will be awarded 100% of their damages if ALP Law handles their injury claim.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
