AM Best, the insurance industry rating agency, has placed the A- (excellent) financial strength rating of Bahrain's Arig Reinsurance Company under review with negative implications.
It said it took the decision because there were "uncertainties surrounding [Arig Re's] ultimate exposure to the terrorist events in the US on September 11, 2001, and the effect this could have on the company's capital base".
