Amlin has raised an extra £50m to raise its Syndicate 2001 capacity to £850m from £800m.

The cash has been raised through a quota share arrangement with XL Re.

The company stated that trading conditions during the January renewal season were very strong. It claimed 25% rate increases on US catastrophe business, 75% on international catastrophe, 70% on property and 44% on marine hull.

Amlin said that its 2002 reinsurance was placed at the same cost as for 2001 but with higher deductibles and higher leves of co-insurance.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
