Insurance broker Aon is to suspend all business activities involving Iran indefinitely.

Aon said that as of 1 April neither itself nor any of its subsidiaries will maintain an office in Iran, nor will they do work for government or businesses domiciled there.

However, Aon said it remains committed to serving clients in the Middle East.

New York City Comptroller William Thompson. said he had requested that Aon suspend its business activities in Iran.

According to reports, City workers are concerned about investing their pension funds in companies that have ties to the government of Iran.
