Ariel Re, the $1bn reinsurer headed up by Don Kramer, founder of Ace's CAT reinsurance arm Tempest Re, has said that it has begun underwriting in Bermuda.
The reinsurer said it "has its full operational team and all necessary physical facilities in Bermuda to underwrite business for the 2006 fiscal year".
The company also revealed that “during this period of heightened demand”, in addition to the reinsurance market, it will broaden into direct insurance “as conditions warrant”.
