The Accident Group (TAG) is facing an investigation by bus company Arriva into more than 400 of its claims.

Yesterday, bus company Arriva said it has hired private investigators to look into the validity of hundreds of allegedly false claims.

The claims were alleged to have been filed in an attempt by TAG employees to boost their commission. A spokesman for Arriva said: "Along with other bus operators, we have engaged an agency to check the validity of claims being made by representatives of The Accident Group.

"We can confirm that during a six-month period, over 400 claims were submitted by representatives of The Accident Group. Subsequently a number were withdrawn, a number of people were uncontactable and in a number of cases fraud was suspected."

According to the Daily Telegraph, TAG had initiated an internal investigation into the claims against Arriva last week. The internal fraud investigation concentrated on the activity of one office, which filed a suspicious number of claims against the bus company.
