Asia represents a land of untapped opportunity for run-off providers, according to corporate recovery firm Omni Whittington.

Chief executive Tony Hobrow, speaking at the Insol conference, said: “Mounting regulatory pressure in Asia for increases in capital and better standards will lead to a shake out of its insurance sector and force many businesses to be sold or put into run-off.”

Insol is the international association of restructuring, insolvency and bankruptcy professionals.

Hobrow went on: “I believe that there are, and will be, many opportunities in the Asia region for all of us involved in corporate recovery, exit solutions, work-outs, restructuring and the like.

“From the limited research I have been able to conduct and the time I have spent in Asian countries, there are indeed opportunities now for the bold agents of corporate reconstruction.”
