Atrium Underwriting unit Atrium Underwriters has announced its outlook for 2003 remains "very" attractive.

It also released the results for its managed syndicates 570 and 609 for the 2000 year of account in addition to forecasts for the 2001 and 2002 years of account.

For the 2000 year of account, Syndicate 570 made a 4.5% loss on capacity of £50.1m, compared with a previous forecast of a profit of between 2% and 6%.

Syndicate 609 made a 4.5% profit on £66m capacity, compared with a forecast of a profit up to 4%.

For the 2001 year of account, the group forecast a total capacity of £132.8m, with a loss of up to 2.8% or profit up to 3% on this capacity.

The company said the improvement in the 2001 year of account of Syndicate 609 had resulted from substantial premiums written after 11 September coming off risk and exhibiting a low level of claims activity.

A company statement said: "With trading conditions remaining strong in 2003 and the prospects of this
continuing an average loss experience should once more generate excellent underwriting returns."
