Membership of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) increased by 37% last year.
The IIA's heads of Internal Audit Service also increased its membership by 31%.
Richard Nelson, President of the IIA for UK and Ireland said: "These results demonstrate that the Institute's efforts to promote and lobby on behalf of the internal audit profession are being recognised by its most senior members."
