The Art Loss Register recovered this oil painting with an insurance value of up to £9,000 during a routine search of auction house catalogues.
The painting entitled Le Petit Duc by artist Bernard Buffet was stolen from an Amsterdam art gallery in 1985 while on loan from a Parisian gallery.
The painting was insured by Dutch Schllencker Insurance company.
