AXA has merged its commercial and personal lines distribution following its restructure last week. Mark Cliff, the commercial and intermediary lines director, will head up the merged division as distribution director.

The restructure will also see the creation of a separate underwriting division. The insurer said this will enable it to strengthen its exising portfolio and develop new product lines. Roy Watkinson has been appointed underwriting director on an interim basis.

Customer operations will also become more focused, claimed the company. It said there would be a common approach to service strategy and standards for both personal and commercial lines. Andy Fairchild will remain as customer operations director.

Growth of business will be developed in the corporate development division. AXA said growth will be "more innovative and customer focused". The division will incorporate strategic marketing, strategic development and marketing support. Paul Bridge has been appointed corporate development director.
