Axa is poised to announce its new loss adjusting panel after whittling down the number of contenders from eight to just four loss adjusters.

A source close to the tender process told Insurance Times the four short-listed adjusters are GAB Robins, Cunningham Lindsey, Miller Pycraft and Wirral-based Ashworth Mairs Group.

Axa declined to comment on the details of its draft list of preferred adjusters or the number of places available for adjusters on its new panel, as its tender process was still active.

Loss adjusters bidding for the work have signed confidentiality agreements, which prohibit them from discussing their role in the tender process.

However, the insurer did reveal it had received a total of eight tenders for its personal and commercial claims work.

Axa claims technical manager, Graham Plumb, said it had taken the insurer four days to properly evaluate the eight submitted tenders.

“We have carried out an intensive review which has taken four days to complete,” said Plumb.

He disclosed the tender process had focused on a number of key issues, particularly adjusters' technical expertise, approach to claims handling, IT use and track record.

Loss adjusters were also asked to demonstrate their experience in delivering satisfactory customer service and an understanding of Axa's core values.

Plumb said Axa expected to have concluded the tendering process by the middle of October, when it will announce its new loss adjusting panel.
