Three-strong team departs and construction chief heads for Teceris

Loss adjuster Axis is to open an office specialising in construction and liability after poaching a team of three adjusters from GAB Robins.

Former GAB liability specialist David Fillingham has been appointed to head a team of three, including former colleagues Jon Evans and Graham Staples.

Axis regional director for liability and financial lines Paul Townsend said:

"This is a niche book of business for which we have found a demand.

"We have plans to strengthen and expand our UK liability operation - how big the team grows will be determined by the needs of our client."

The new office will open in Croydon next month.

The exodus of GAB's liability team came at the same time as the departure of its head of energy, construction and engineering for Teceris.

Jack Chisholm will take charge of Teceris' construction and engineering team in November, the move fuelling speculation that members of his former team will soon follow.

Crawford head of engineering Dave Dimelow said he would not be surprised if half of GAB's construction team were wooed to Teceris within a year of Chisholm's appointment.

GAB managing director Derek Coles said the company would continue to focus on the energy, construction and engineering sectors.

"It is my intention to increase our customer base in this important and challenging sector focusing on the London market, where so much opportunity clearly exists.

"As we have one of the largest dedicated liability adjusting teams in the UK this change will have no impact on our service delivery to customers," he added.

Teceris specialises in corporate and complex losses and is backed by Capita Insurance Services.
