UnumProvident has welcomed government guidelines for rehabilitation, outlined in a report called Employment for All.
The report, by the Department for Work and Pensions Select Committee, will begin to revolutionise the way disabled and incapacited people are treated in society, said UnumProvident.
Some of the key recommendations of the report as suggested by UnumPriovident include: to change the name of 'incapacity benefit' in order to provide more positive connotations - for example, the UnumProvident proposal of 'capacity benefit'; to put a greater emphasis on local devolution and autonomy as case management offers the best approach; JobCentre Plus should work more close with employers to ensure retention and rehabilitation; and to offer greater support to promote the business case for employing disabled people especially for SMEs.
