Benfield has announced the opening of a branch office in Taipei, Taiwan to service its growing customer base in the territory.
Benfield Taiwan will also further enhance its presence in mainland China, the company said.
“We have enjoyed a long history of involvement with the Taiwanese market and we are delighted to announce this expansion of the group's operations,” said Grahame Chilton, chief executive of Benfield.
“We see a significant opportunity to develop our existing relationships and expand the provision of our market-leading broking and risk advisory services in China.”
Jentzu Pan has been appointed general manager of Benfield Taiwan.
Jentzu spent the past 15 years working for Cathay Financial Group. At Cathay Century Insurance he was responsible for its reinsurance operations across all lines of business including both treaty and facultative placements.
The new office gained its operational licences by the Insurance Bureau of Taiwan at the end of June.
