Reinsurance intermediary Benfield achieved an 8.3% rise in operating revenue in their half-year results.

The group's income increased to £153.7m from £142m at the same point last year.

Benfield also experienced a group trading increase of 51.1%to £44.6m from £29.5m in 2002.

Earnings per share reported a loss of 2.61p compared to 5.68p last year's half-year results.

Chief executive Grahame Chilton said: "Trading conditions remain favourable and we believe that Benfield is well positioned to continue to deliver long term growth to shareholders."
