It was sharp suits, slick hats and fur wraps all round when Bennetts Insurance Centre celebrated its 70th anniversary.

The Coventry company held a 1930s-style street party, after guests were chauffeured in a Humber car and greeted by costumed staff at its revamped offices.

Bennetts was established by present managing director Michael Bennett's grandfather in the year car insurance first became compulsory and operated from his front room.

It is now part of a group that employs 500 people in Coventry and has centres in Redditch, Peterborough and Hillingdon.
