BGL Group adds chief information officer and new MD to its ranks

The BGL Group has appointed George Slade as its first chief information officer.

Slade joins the group from Cable & Wireless, where he was chief information officer and head of security. He played a key role in the leadership team and was accountable for acquiring and re-engineering its technology and cost base.

Prior to this he was Global IT head for Marconi where he orchestrated and led the Global IT stream sale of Marconi to Ericsson.

BGL Group chief executive Peter Winslow said: “As a Group, we have an ambitious agenda of commercially beneficial change, particularly with the rapid growth of comparethemarket.com and automated customer service solutions. "George has a proven track record in customer engagement and commercial delivery combined with a strong interest in new and emerging technologies. His expertise has an important role to play, and I welcome him to the team.”

New Frontline MD

Meanwhile, BGL Group also confirmed that Andy Bord is to take on a new role as managing director for Frontline, incorporating the group’s own brands.

Bord’s new role will see him join the BGL group executive. He joined the BGL Group eighteen months ago as director for Budget & Dial Direct.

His previous position was head of mobile convergence at Vodafone.
