Demand in Scotland for policies covering bird flu has risen following the discovery of an infected swan, according to Powell Insurance Brokers.
Powell Insurance Brokers has a policy, underwritten by Crewe Livestock, which acts as a top-up to government compensation, covering business interruption, which is not compensated for.
Farmers must now house birds in a 2,500sqm area surrounding where the swan was found in Fife.
