The Financial Services practitioner panel has appointed Jonathan Bloomer as its chairman, with effect from 1 November 2003.

Bloomer, who is group chief executive of Prudential, succeeds Donald Brydon who will assume the post of deputy chairman for one year.

The practitioner panel was established under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 to represent the broad spectrum of regulated firms and the interests of practitioners generally.

Bloomer said he intended to form firm relations between the panel and the FSA chairman and chief executive.
