Theresa Schugel arrives at BMS from Aon Benfield

BMS has appointed Theresa Schugel as executive vice president to lead the expansion of its global specialty casualty practice.

Schugel has spent the last four years leading Aon Benfield’s global healthcare and lawyers professional liability practice.

Formerly chief executive of the Benfield subsidiary Paragon Strategic Solutions, she also led a national healthcare origination team for Benfield.

Carl Beardmore, chief executive of BMS, said: “Hiring someone of Theresa’s calibre and standing is a significant appointment for BMS. She will drive our continued expansion in the US, building on BMS’ existing reputation and experience.”

Schugel, who will based in BMS’ Minneapolis office. said: “ The group’s plan to grow and invest in the development of its specialty casualty business gives us the opportunity to create something unique and truly distinctive in the market.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
