GAB Robins said its major and complex loss property team is dealing with several claims in Boscastle, the Cornish Village devastated by flash floods last week.

Some of the claims have initial total estimates in excess of £1m, said the loss adjuster.

Major and complex loss director Paul Burchill, said: “It is still difficult to quantify the total value of damage at Boscastle as a number of buildings future existence is still in question.

“Investigations are still in the early stages but damage will run into several million pounds.

“However, with Tourism as a mainstay of the Village's economy, then Business Interruption costs will have an impact.”
