A fire at the 103-year-old Brighton Palace Pier on the evening of 4 February destroyed the ghost train ride and damaged two other rides and some decking.

Surveyors said that there is no structural damage to the pier.

The pier is insured by Fusion Insurance Services which writes a programme for its owners, Noble Amusements, as part of their overall property portfolio.

The risk was placed through the Midlands office of broker TL Clowes and, at this stage, the loss is estimated in the order of £1m, including business interruption.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
