Zurich is backing Broker Direct's re-entry into the motor market in Northern Ireland.
While the move marks a return to Northern Ireland for Broker Direct, Zurich has operated a Belfast office for many years.
Broker Direct chief executive Roy Green said: "I am delighted to be returning to Northern Ireland with a motor product. We have a number of loyal shareholding brokers there who supported us with profitable business until we were forced to withdraw. When we reached agreement with Zurich over the transfer of our main motor book, they said that they wanted to help us develop and this is a practical and early sign of that commitment."
Business development director for Zurich's Personal Insurance business, Dave Parry, said: "Zurich has an excellent working relationship with Broker Direct and we're excited about our new plans for the Irish market.
"Zurich has had many years underwriting experience in this region, so this partnership was an obvious choice."
The underwriting of the Northern Ireland product is being finalised and is expected to be available later this summer, the company added.
