Aviva broker performance director Sam Hudson has today resigned and will leave in the new year, Insurance Times can reveal.

Hudson has worked for Aviva for nine years. As well as holding responsibility for its general insurance broker relationships, he runs the premium collection operation for Aviva’s GI business, is a member of its risk committee and a director of the RAC pension fund.

Hudson said: “Leaving has been a really difficult decision – I have had the most incredible nine years with the RAC, Norwich Union and then Aviva.

“I have been privileged to work with the most talented and passionate people, many of whom will be friends for life, and I’m proud to have been part of a broker team that is so committed to its vision and future success.”

“However, I have an opportunity elsewhere within the insurance sector that is a completely different challenge, and that I know is the right thing for me to do at this point in my career.”

His replacement is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Aviva’s intermediary and partnerships director Phil Bayles said: “Sam’s been a highly effective member of my team for a number of years. I’ve personally enjoyed working with Sam and will miss his passion and focus.

“Sam leaves the broker relationship team in a very strong position. We have a clear aspiration to be number 1 for our brokers and partners and the whole team will continue to focus on delivering this.”
