SBJ
The marine division of London and international insurance market broker SBJ has appointed Andrew Harding as chairman.

He has also been appointed a director of SBJ Ltd.

Harding's responsibilities include the expansion of the marine portfolio which will also focus on broadening the business lines.

He was formerly managing director of the marine cargo division of Alexander Forbes Risk Services and has been joined by several members of his team.

Aspen
Aspen Insurance Holdings named Brian Boornazian to the newly-created position of head of reinsurance.

Boornazian will retain his current position as president of Aspen Re America. He will continue to report directly to Aspen chief executive Chris O'Kane.

Boornazian will be responsible for the global management of property and casualty product lines across Aspen's reinsurance operations, coordinating business planning, risk management and development of business opportunities.

Boornazian joined Aspen in January 2004 as president of Aspen Re America, property reinsurance. He was previously at XL Re America.

Brit
Brit Insurance Holdings has appointed Graham Taylor to the business development unit, headed by Richard Webster.

Taylor began his career as a broker before moving to underwriting. He has worked for several major Lloyd's syndicates and joined Brit Insurance in 2002, where he was most recently US and international property underwriter.

He is a former chairman of the Lloyd's non-marine underwriting and technical committee and is currently on the board of Nuclear Risk Insurers.

In his new role, Taylor will develop broker relationships, distribution channels and wider multi-class business opportunities. He will have particular focus on binding authority business throughout the world.

BCWA
BCWA has strengthened its team of senior broker consultants with the appointment of Trevor Gaze.

Gaze joins from private medical insurance firm Clinicare - which was acquired by Groupama Insurances in October 2005 - where he was responsible for the company's business development in the north of England.

With nine years' healthcare experience, Gaze becomes the third senior broker consultant within the team.

Working closely with BCWA's northern-based brokers, he will receive full back office support from the company's Bristol-based sales team and will report to sales and marketing director Jack Briggs.

PBS
PBS Holdings, the holding company for Primary Group-owned commercial, agricultural and personal accident underwriting agencies, has appointed Simon Taylor to the newly-created role of marketing director.

Taylor has been given wide-ranging responsibilities, which include driving PBS Holdings' strategies for product, distribution, brand and marketing.

He was heavily involved in the negotiation of the recently-announced capacity agreement between PBS Holdings and AXA, Royal & SunAlliance and Primary Insurance Company.

He will continue to lead the development of distribution arrangements with Primary Group businesses, third-party distributors and suppliers, and initiatives such as Imarket.

Close Premium Finance
Close Premium Finance has recruited Simon Bailey as a new sales manager. He will cover the Midlands, and is targeted to grow Close's already substantial broker portfolio in the region.

Bailey's background is in motor vehicle sales. In his last four years with Peugeot UK, he gained significant experience of cutting deals in both the retail and commercial markets.

LCL Group has appointed Simon Daniel as managing director of the project consultancy division.

Daniel was an underwriting director and senior underwriter at QBE Re.

He began his career in 1985 as a commercial underwriter at AGF. He was subsequently an underwriter at Mercantile & General Re and underwriting manager for the Euler Group before joining Liberty Re as head of financial risks.

He has extensive experience and knowledge of casualty, trade credit, surety, political risk and financial product business, insurance, reinsurance and retrocession.

CMGL
CMGL has appointed Nick Stretton as director, corporate and general insurer division.

Stretton has over 20 years' experience in the general insurance and life insurance industries. He joins CMGL after eight years with Zurich Financial Services, where he held various senior positions. Most recently he was head of customer relationship management for its global corporate business.

In this role, he was responsible for managing and developing a portfolio generating over £100m.

Arc Legal Assistance has appointed two new team members to support the growth of the business.

Kirsty Gardiner joins as claims adviser. She worked previously for loss adjusters GAB Robins and Capita Insurance Services, where she gained experience in household, travel and commercial landlords' claims.

Zara Mayhew joins as administration assistant. She joins from Capita Insurance Services where she was an administratr for household claims.
