Most brokers would lose at employment tribunal because of poor HR policies, according to research by employment law firm Peninsula.

The study found that only eight per cent of brokers had sufficiently tight HR policies in place that would withstand a legal claim.

For instance, only 38% had amended their contracts of employment to take into account new rules concerning flexible working laws.

Peninsula head of corporate development Russell Guest said that in order to make HR procedures watertight, the policies must be designed to cover all eventualities.
