BUPA, the UK's largest private health insurer, is to launch an online venture that will allow customers to apply for health insurance over the internet.
It will also enable existing customers to update personal health information and process claims online.
The system, developed by BroadVision, a US provider of enterprise self-service applications, uses 'personalisation' technology.
This will allow BUPA to recognise the people that access its website, as individuals, and to tailor specific information for each customer based on their background and preferences.
A BUPA spokesman said this was a major move for BUPA to leverage their huge and trusted healthcare brand online.
