Broker Simon Burgess has succeeded in his fight to stop IFA network Burns-Anderson using the trademark “UV”.
Burgess has the names Ultra-Violet, Ultra-violet and Ultra Violet trademarked. Last month, he issued a High Court writ against the network alleging a breach of trademark law (Insurance Times, July 17).
The writ claimed Burns-Anderson used a number of signs “identical to, or alternatively similar to, the services for which the claimants mark is registered”.
Burns-Anderson's solicitors have written to Burgess saying the IFA has ceased using the UV name.
Burgess said: “They've completely capitulated and withdrawn the use of the name.”
