Aon Claims Management portfolio integrated into Europe's largest claims network

Capita Commercial Services plans to roll-out its newly-acquired Aon Claims Management (ACM) across its SAP claims network.

Executive director Dermot Joyce said that Capita had the largest SAP claims system in Europe and he intended to integrate the 20,000 ACM claims portfolio through that part of the business.

He said: "Aon's claims portfolio was a perfect fit for us as its delegated authority business covers our core areas. It brings major corporate partners such as Tesco along with local government work where we specialise in liability claims."

Capita handles £12.5bn worth of liability claims for insurers, brokers, captive insurers, liquidators and local government agencies.

ACM's 103 staff will transfer to Capita and will continue to work from their existing locations in Sheffield, Leeds, Birmingham and Edinburgh.

Joyce said the deal was signed and sealed quickly. "We have a close relationship with Aon as we are working with it on plans for the 2012 Olympics."

He was also interested in talking to other major brokers that were looking to offload delegated authority claims work.

Capita also announced it had renewed its three-year, £120m contract to administer miners' personal injury claims on behalf of the Department of Trade and Industry.

This primarily concerns processing long-tail claims involving British Coal such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and vibration white finger. To date, about £3bn of the overall £7bn uncapped liabilities has been paid out.

' Aon is in talks with commercial partners to outsource its client operations in Romford employing 600 staff. The division deals with current and legacy insurance claims administration and processing, as well as accounting and settlement, for clients within Aon's reinsurance division and its specialist and wholesale units.
