Cardiff intermediary the CAR Insurance Centre has launched its policy for approved driving instructors into the broker market.

Instructorcover plus was previously only available through the intermediary which is part of insurance consultants Watkin Davies.

But CAR decided to provide its specialist policy to a wider market following demand from other brokers.

Ann-Marie Llewellyn who is in charge of the scheme said: "It began when we were approached by a Bristol broker who asked to sell our policy after he found that it offered more competitive rates than others in the market."

The policy's benefits include, legal expenses cover and access to a replacement dual control courtesy car for an unlimited period in the event of non-fault claims. For fault claims the courtesy car use is restricted to 14 days.

Other benefits are off-road and third party cover and unlimited public liability.

Cover extends to any driving instructor over 25 years of age and any other driver for tuition purposes, but this can be varied with permission.

A no-claims bonus is offered for up to one non-fault claim per year, more than this and only one year's no-claims discount is lost.

Commission for brokers is flat rated and for clients introductory discounts are given up to 60%.
