Catlin Underwriting has appointed James Burcke as its new communications head.
Burcke will be responsibile for communications with the media, policyholders, brokers and others in the insurance industry.
Chairman Stephen Catlin said: "I am delighted that we have been able to recruit Jim to the Catlin team.
"His extensive experience, both at Equitas and as a journalist and an editor, together with his detailed knowledge of the insurance industry will enhance our ability to communicate effectively with our key audiences."
