London market claims adjusting and inspections specialists Peter Blem Adjusters has been acquired by Cavell Management Services for an undisclosed sum.

The planned merger follows a year of the two companies working closely together on their joint project to take over the portfolios of discontinued insurance and reinsurance businesses, called MARKITAS.

Cavell and Peter Blem have also linked-up with independent marine claims consultants Richards Insurance Services, under the trading name of Calibre.

Roy Townsend, managing director of Cavell, said: “Peter Blem Adjusters will retain its separate identity and continue to act independently in its specialist fields, but will draw on the support services and joint resources of the larger group to enhance the Blem service.”

Cavell is jointly owned by Norwich Union and Winterthur, the Swiss insurer, and provides full run-off and other services to insurers and reinsurers. It has offices in London and Norwich.
