CDL is set to roll out its rebroke.net referral system to between 20 and 50 brokers in 2004.

The system, which is currently being piloted by two brokers, allows CDL users to share risk information to get the customer a better price.

The original broker, with the customer's permission, sends information to the recipient broker via rebroke.net.

The recipient broker pays CDL a small commission for the lead. If the receiver writes the business, the sender receives a negotiated monthly commission.

H&R Insurance and Fresh! are the two brokers currently piloting the system.

Meanwhile, former People's Choice chief executive David Pearce has joined CDL as a consultant. Pearce's responsibilities will include developing retail relationships for CDL's business-to-consumer website, InsureForLess.

Budget recently announced that CDL would become the preferred IT supplier for its retail network.
