NYSE-listed information technology services company CGI Group has signed three five-year contract renewals with Canadian insurers valued at over C$40m (£17.7m). The clients are CGU, The Dominion and Pilot Insurance.

CGI is the fourth largest independent IT services firm in North America and the largest in Canada. It provides end-to-end IT services and business solutions to clients in countries such as the US, Canada, the UK and France.

The group's deal with CGU will see it support and maintain CGU's commercial lines applications across Canada. The applications support CGU in the administration of all underwriting, billing, and claims processing.

CGU writes approximately C$650m (£287m) in commercial premium income. As part of the contract, CGI will provide its rating engine, Ratabase, to support all rating done by CGU's personal lines and commercial lines applications.

CGI's has signed similar deals with the Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company, to support and maintain its commercial property lines applications, and The Pilot Insurance Company, to support and maintain its personal lines applications.

Pilot insurance writes over C$400m (£178m) in total premium income in Ontario.

CGI said its clients included 20 of the top 25 insurance carriers in the US and 17 of the top 25 carriers in Canada. Financial services account for 40% of its revenue.
