Newly-formed super-insurer CGNU has dismissed speculation that it will dispose of specialist non-standard motor insurer, Sabre.

It is thought Sabre will write around £60m in premium income this year, producing strong profits in a hardening market.

However, Norwich Union is also a massive non-standard motor writer, prompting claims that Sabre could be sold.

A CGNU spokeswoman denied any sell-off was about to occur, saying: "There is no indication that any decision of that nature has been reached. We said the merger was going to take at least 18 months and announcements will be made when appropriate."
