Direct insurer Churchill Insurance has announced it will create 600 new jobs in a new operation in Galway, Ireland.
Of this total, 200 jobs will be available in a new call centre based in Ballybrit. The UK's fifth largest insurance company said it will recruit locally and the recruitment drive will begin immediately. The new office is planned to go live on 5th June.
Churchill's CEO Martin Long said: "Unprecedented growth of the business, following recent acquisitions and major new alliances, has created the need for a fifth contact centre within the operation. We are committed to offering our 7 million customers world class service and the addition of
this new operation will further strengthen our customer service capabilities.
" I am very happy that we have been able to bring these new job opportunities to Galway. I believe we have found an ideal location for the expansion of our activities here in Ireland and look forward to a long and happy association with everyone in the area."
The jobs will also include management, training and administration positions - offering both full
time and part time employment.
The office accommodation will be based in the Ballybrit Business Park, close to the existing Churchill Group offices of Inter Group Insurance Services, which employs 50 people.
Ireland's deputy Prime Minister, Mary Harney, gave her official endorsement to the deal at an IDA Ireland reception held today in Galway.
Churchill said prospective candidates can email mkb@inter-group.co.uk for more information about the vacancies.
