The Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (CILA) has set up a joint working party with the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) to discuss the methods and processes of operating examinations.

In a statement, the two organisations said the move was in preparation for a much greater degree of industry regulation.

They added that the preliminary findings from the initiative should be available for publication in the summer of 2002.

CILA president Gerald Williams told Insurance Times: "I would like to make it clear this is not a merger.

"These talks are to discuss where CILA and CII can work together and pool resources on the issue of examinations only."
