Allianz Cornhill has become the first insurer to gain prior learning accreditation from the CII at advanced diploma level for its in-house training programme.
The accreditation relates to Allianz Cornhill's Underwriting Academy and means academy students can qualify for up to 60 credits towards the CII's 290-point ACII qualification. To achieve this students need to complete Allianz Cornhill's in-house motor insurance and property and pecuniary modules.
Allianz Cornhill chief executive Andrew Torrance said the accreditation meant that up to 20% of the ACII qualification could be gained in-house. He said it was a significant step towards the company "developing the most technically skilled underwriters in the industry".
CII director general Sandy Scott applauded the award. He said: "I think they are front-running the industry here. This is a trend that others will seek to follow."
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
