The Chartered Insurance Institute's (CII) annual conference is to have a new feel. It has been re-branded as the 'UK Insurance and Financial Services Conference 2002' and will include a challenging agenda as part of its regeneration initiative.

The re-branding signals the CII's attempt to broaden the appeal of the conference. It hopes it will become the main UK conference for general insurance and financial services.

The director general of the CII, Dr Sandy Scott, said: This is a pivotal year for our industry. Everywhere you look - general insurance, financial services, Lloyd's - there are huge pressures and issues. Our conference will challenge these and provide the forum to shift opinion and the mindset of the industry.

"The fresh approach we are adopting this year means delegates will benefit from a stimulating programme as we challenge the industry to refresh itself and its thinking," Scott added.

The event will be held at the Birmingham International Conference Centre on 26 and 27 September.
