The number of people completing the professional level Associateship (ACII) of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has increased for the fourth successive examination session.
In April 2003, 61% of entrants passed the ACII exam compared to 57% in April last year.
CII qualifications director Lucy Courtenay said: "Over 100,000 entries were received in 2002 across all CII exams, the highest for five years.
"Entries this year are ahead of our projections indicating that the insurance sector is getting prepared for the onset of statutory regulation in 2005, and the need to demonstrate the competence of individuals."
The number of people completing the technician level Certificate of Insurance Practice increased as well with 125 completing the qualification compared to 116 a year ago.
