The Claims Standards Council (CSC) has appointed a steering committee to guide the development of its standards for the claims management industry.

Appointees to the steering committee are: former High Court Judge Sir Philip Otton; Marlene Winfield OBE, who advised Lord Woolf on the access to justice review; and Rodger Pannone, senior partner of law firm Pannone & Partners.

The Department for Constitutional Affairs, which has met the CSC to discuss its draft rules, said: "We want to see significant improvements in the service delivery provided to consumers and strict vetting of all potential claims to ensure frivolous claims are not supported."
