The Claims People Group chief executive Barry Whyte said the company was actively looking to expand its range of claims services through further acquisitions.

"We're not just looking at loss adjusters and claims management companies, but other companies which would be compatible with the business," said Whyte.

The group made its first acquisition, CCS Global UK, in September 2003.

The group posted profits of £135,000 for the 2003 year of account, up from a loss of £304,032 for 2002.

Turnover went up 90% compared with 2002, up to £1.9m from £1m, said the company.

Operating profit increased to £49,276, up from a loss of £302,438, while pretax profit jumped to £50,818 from losses of £304,032 in the previous year.

Chairman John French said: "Initial indications for current trading show significant increases each month relative to last year and we enter 2004 with enhanced confidence."
