French-owned private medical insurance provider, Clinicare has announced a 42% growth in premium income for its range of plans in 1999.

Clinicare is owned by the French medical insurance giant Strasbourgeoise.

Last year's success follows growth rates averaging 50% in the previous two years for the Southampton-based firm.

Derry Andrews, general manager of Strasbourgeoise UK, commented: "This has been another phenomenal year. The work we have put into developing close working relationships with some of the industry's key intermediary firms has really paid off."

Strasbourgeoise, part of Groupe AZUR-GMF, reports that a number of leading companies switched their corporate health insurance plans to Clinicare last year.

It now hopes to become one of the UK's leading providers of private medical insurance.
