Travel insurer Club Direct has launched an improved version of its special Discovery Gold travel insurance for backpackers.
The new policy now includes full medical cover for skiing and snowboarding, extra cover for beach baggage and additional cover for compact discs, mini discs and cassettes.
Club Direct managing director Brent Escott said: "Despite the slowdown in travel since September, we have seen an opposite trend in the backpacker market, where sales are still growing."
The insurer has seen sales of backpackers insurance rocket by 40% this month, compared to January last year.
