CNA Maritime has launched a new maritime liability product aimed at the waterside companies.

Andrew Farrant joins the company as its new marine liability underwriter and has designed a policy to address the needs of companies working at the waters edge, including, port authorities, terminal operators, stevedores, ship repairers, boat builders, marinas and boatyards.

The modular format of the product provides insureds with the flexibility to select the level and extent of policy coverage appropriate to their trade. Under one contract, in addition to marine liabilities, most marine and selected non-marine risks can be considered.

This will help to avoid potential gaps or overlaps in policy coverage and will reduce policy administration and claims handling costs.

Farrant said: "To comply with increased regulation and legislation, insureds, now more than ever, have to assess and manage their risks. CNA's philosophy is to understand clients' individual risks and needs, and to provide, when required, risk management support and advice."
