Marsh has warned businesses against ignoring the risks posed by the G8 summit at Gleneagles.

The company said it has prepared a check list of risk management actions to ensure those firms based in major cities, such as London and Edinburgh, protect employees, property, information and products in light of civil unrest.

The firm recommended companies liaise with the local police station, particularly if a G8-related march is due to take place nearby.

Companies are also being asked to review their insurance to ensure that cover is in place for potential claims associated with terrorist-related incidences, civil disturbances and business interruption that have an impact on physical assets and employees.
